Check Engine Light kills cat?
Ok i just got my car sound cat installed. and my O2 senser was broken.
so i took the plug out. I had CEL before but anyways i was wondering having CEL on will kill my new cat?

I have heard that if a cat stares at a CEL for too long it will die, I have tried to catch this black and white one that I see on my porch to test the theory but to this point i have not been able to...
seriously, the CEL wont kill it, but if the car is running way to rich, it will clog the cat up and kill it. What was the CEL from? did you pull the code?

my CEL is from secondary O2 senser.

then ignore it, or do what I did, remove the bulb.

Having a CEL light does not necessarily mean its for the catalytic converter element/secondary o2.
IF it is for the o2 or catalyst, its just a sign that you are running rich (I think we area all running rich to some degree...
), which will eventually hinder the life of your cat.
I'm not really sure I understand your question. It's not very well-formed, no offense. Hopefully we helped somewhat.
While you can pull the bulb for the CEL, you then have no way of knowing if you have any OTHER error codes.

If you leave the CEL on, i thought its supposed to throw the car into safety mode where it dials back timing to prevent detonation and run really rich?
I personally wouldn't mess with that aspect cause through the readings that the O2 gets, that determines the fuel delivery and timing.

from what i konw secondary sensor is there to let ecu know that the cat is there and working.. if shouldn't throw the car into limp mode.

Primary o2 does what you described in paragraph 2. At least something similar to this.
about safety mode - this is not true when talking about a secondary o2. I messed up the wiring on my primary o2 once and I got TERRIBLE gas mileage from this 'safety mode' - but nothing you do to your 2ndary o2 including removing it, stepping on it, cutting the wires, etc, will cause your ecu to go into safety/limp mode.

I was a little confused about this one too, atleast i got part of it straight, w00t w00t!
I sprung a CEL when I hollowed out my first cat. Gas mileage went to *****!
My gas mileage was close to the mileage i got when i test ran a Mugen ECU.
This all went down when gas prices here in Chicago were $2.54/gallon

if mugen ecu is obd1, then it doesn't need a secondary sensor..
