Why would someone want to remove the clock and then get a "plate" to cover the empty space?

Just like the "removal of rear wiper mod"...this is another mod that I can't understand. It is easier to tell time with that clock than with a watch, if you actually wear one.

I can never see the display on my clock. The LED display on the clock is so dim that the sunlight usually makes it unreadable.....
