Default i need a quick fix for my intake (please help) :(

what's up I'm installing my new optima battery. I have a 3" shorty intake. I can't get the battery tie down on. The intake has to go. How can I temporarily cover the throttle body?

all replies appreciated

Take the filter off the intake pipe and attach it directly to the TB.

Or I would suggest relocating the battery to the rear.

Tried that. It rubs the fuel filter and if i drive too hard it will probably break my fp gage.
This battery is going in the back soon. I need a distribution block (1 2ga into 2 4 ga) but can't find what i'm looking for. Would a sock or some panty hosework?

Are you serious? If I was you I would return the optima battery and pick up a motorcycle or tractor battery for a quick fix until you can relocate. This is far safer than putting a sock or glove or pantyhose on. What happens if a piece is sucked into your tb and holds it open or into your motor for that matter? Go to walmart they are like $50

It was just an idea. The thought of it getting sucked into the tb crossed my mind. Autozone is open 24 hrs. Guess i'll pay the $50 and get another battery. This has to be cheaper than repairing the damage caused by the sock going into the motor. thanks peeps

You could always just drive carefully so that your battery won't move around...

They make an optima yellow top made specific for sport compacts now. It called the group 51.

A sock works just fine man.

I used a wool winter sock type thing for a week of daily driving with no problems, it probably choked out a few ponies but I just needed it because my intake was stolen

Just clamped it down with the CAI clamp and it was fine, was a little warm though after driving

Hahaha its funny I read this thread 2-3 days ago, and just last night I was at the races and I ran Plymouth Laser, the turbo ones right.

I thought I could take him all motor- smoked him off the launch but in third gear I saw him start to walk 1/2 car ahead, **** it, nitrous, by 200 I had 4 cars on him, let off the gas

POP! (******* loud) and then I ran something over

I honestly felt like I hit a kid holding balloons. Pull over at the end of the 'track", check the car, fine, pop the hood, hmmmmmmmm wheres the lower part of my intake........

The ****** popped right off and I ran it over, so what do I do. Take off my right shoe and then sock and roll it up onto the end of my intake, the guys that were filming in the chase car were like " You cant do that man, socks arent gonna protect your engine"

Held up fine for the 3 hours I was there, 2 more races

Just thought it was funny

I hope youre not talking about 200mph...cuz if so then you have a hella fast all drag car or your full of $****. But maybe thats not what youre talking about

Anyway...what kinda motorcycle batteries are you guys using? I saw a nice one at auto zone the other day but it only had 330-350cca i cant remember which one. I wanted it but i was scared that it wouldnt have enough juice to start my **** on a really cold day. Actually i cant remember if it was a motorcycle battery or a lawnmower battery. Either way it was the only small one that had regular posts...all the other ones had some weird looking ones that wouldnt work with my stock terminals and they could be changed. Thanks for the advice
