Now my car is sitting in a parkin spot and it wont stay running....starts up then shuts off....starts up then shuts off...i am talkin for less then a second. too much air? i also noticed that a vacuum cap was missing on top of the throttle body! please help me i need to drive it home this weekend and it isnt running!! thnx!!

Does the car die immediately after releasing the key? If it does, your ignition switch is bad.
To confirm this, turn the ignition switch to the on position, step on the brake pedal, and put the shifter in neutral. Pull up the emergency brake and DO NOT press the accelerator. Start the car and while holding the key in the START position, immediately put the shifter in drive with your other hand. Does the engine stay running? Now release the key. Does the engine die? If it does, your ignition switch is bad.

did the problem start soon after you adjusted the idle air screw? depending on how much you turned it, this may be the problem. probably not, but it's worth checking.
YES!!my car dies immediately after i release my key while trying to start it.....the other thing i noticed is that when i turn the key to the on position none of my dashlights turn on or flash or beep...until i turn the key a lil more...right before startup! If it is my ignition switch..cani replace this..can i do it myself....i did and engine swap on my car so i can do most things....and how much wil it cost.?? THANKS FOR THE HELP/THOUGHTS

sounds like the switch, you can replace the electrical portion of it very easily, jusy take the cover off of the steering column and you will see the screws that hold the switch in
ok guys i am gonna take ur word for it on this and go ahead and buy a new switch for 40 dollars and install it on my own. Anyhow i just wanted to ask.....how sure are you that it is my switch....what does the switch regulate....just wanna make sure so i can go home from college this weekend!! THNX TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED!!!
