There's some pretty nice hardware lying around gathering dust here on the west coast.
Just in case you forgot:
Foo's last Civic is hibernating in somebodys shop. It's a nice car and never been wrecked. I heard it's for sale for a respectable price.
Taz still has two Civics and is willing to part with at least one of them.
Taz is easy to find, but I won't give you a contact for Foo's car without some qualification.
Everybody around here is always telling you it's cheaper to buy than to build. If you're smart enough to take that kind of advice, but still dumb enough to want to race cars, you might want to keep these in mind.
Scott, who thinks about all the old race cars out there gathering dust, and all the stupid young kids (and old ones) who want to race...how will they ever find each other?

This is one of those rare times where I can say something like "Wow! $40,000 is an absolute steal for all that stuff!"

Taz is busy with the rest of his real life.
The World Challenge thing is a huge effort that takes alot of time, and there's no telling when, if ever, he'll return, according to him. He want's to keep one car to run the Thunderhill 25 Hour with.
I'm just an acquaintance, but I stopped by at his Honda Dealership on a vacation trip a little while back, and visited for a few minutes. Taz is friendly, and enjoys talking about cars...but he did also try to sell me a new one!
Scott, who thought Taz's office decor was very cool...

$40000???
Bah.
That would seem to be the thing that keeps the foolish young and old kids who want to race from mating up with these race cars. Most of us just don't have that kind of scratch, or even half that much, laying around waiting to be tossed in the fireplace.
Now, if you're a foolish kid who lives in the Southeast and REALLY wants to RACE (not drive around the track by yourself like Rinde does)... Uncle Catch knows where you can buy a multiple championship winning ITC Civic for (drum roll)...
$5000.
Thats right, a no-excuses race car that actually won the last two races it entered, setting a track record in the process, for a whopping $5000.
Think you can't race wheel to wheel for the money you currently spend to DE???
Think again my friend.
Truly interested parties can IM me and I'll point you in the right direction. This car isn't listed for sale anywhere, but it is definately for sale. The only catch is that it is preferred that it stays in the SE division.
Scott, who says "Hey look, a completely sorted championship car for what Rinde paid for his shocks."

Number 1 - "Hey Muthafucker! Don't be hijacking my thread!"
Number 2 - These are relatively freshly obsoleted World Challenge cars, and a single working car can be had for in the vicinity of $20K.
Number 3 - When you add it all up I paid MORE for my shocks....Muthafucker!
Scott, who's gonna hafta find a new word to giggle about pretty soon...this one's too nasty...

It doesn't even compare to "Noodle".
Scott, who after considerable thought has determined that there may not in fact be a word that when properly deployed can compete with "Muthafucker!"....I hope some day Samuel L. Jackson is properly credited...I guess that'd be on a different timeline from the one that the Bill & Ted future is on...

While getting 2 bling-bling ex-WCTC cars for $40k is quite a good deal, there is still no place to race them competitively.

Andrew, whose yearly rent doesn't really even compare to Scott's new bling-bling spring tubes

LOL
LOL
it is a OE gear box just with quaife gears in it - sell the bottom end and buy 3 stock bottom ends - the shocks too - the IM may be legal next season - seam welding is legal it says tubes for the cage may be seem welded perhaps the tub mods could incur the 30lb penalty of extra tubes ect
It looks likely that there will soon be an SCCA production class for ex WC cars. Dont know how well subscribed it will be, but its probably going to happen.
And don't fret. I got cash money that says they'll be perfectly legal in H1 soon enough.

"7.1 Vehicles modified beyond limits
Vehicles prepared beyond Honda Challenge, which can show evidence of prior competition usage in a
recognized sanctioning body, (Grand Am, SCCA, etc) may compete in the Honda Challenge but will be
"bumped" up one classification and then evaluated. Drivers must present a valid logbook for the vehicle
before competition. Example: A Grand Am “Sport Touring” Integra GS-R with bigger brakes, and remote
reservoir shocks, (or any combination thereof) would be bumped up from H3 to H2. However, the minimum
weight would still follow the Honda Challenge weights listed for that vehicle. Drivers of such vehicles must
declare modifications, which would make them illegal for a specific class before racing."
