Questions about my 1990 Civic Si all original parts
Can someone give me a complete rundown
motor name, chassis code etc...
I'm getting conflicting info
108 HP at 6200 RPM
100 lbs at 5000 RPM
any help would be great, I posted this in the EK+/ DEl SOL forum accidently and some jerk from pa gave me the business. Not a nice way to start out on this site.
I'm all posted out, I reached my 5 post limit thanks a lot though

It's the ED9, D16A6 engine, 108 Hp.
You've got it right.
Look around, and for God's sake, stay in here, we're much nicer.
I owned 2 90 Si's myself, 1 civic, and 1 CRX.
Let us know if you wanted anything else specifically.

Thanks again you wouldn't happen to know the weight of the car, the door jam sticker is a bit faded, also what is the stock tire pressure front and rear, the wheels are 14" with 205 65's i think, thanks again.
weight is about 2200lbs, i hope your tires arent 205/65/14, you must be rubbing like crazy...stock tire size is 185/60/14 for the civic si...and usually 32psi for tire pressure...
You'll find that the EF forum is much more pleasant and helpful than the EG forum.

ED7 it is thanks, so what is the first thing I should do mod wise, it still has the factory airbox, intake? its got some cheesy arospeed exhaust, doesn't sound too bad I believe the ignition wires are 8mm, they seem fairly new.
I'm up for suggestions, plus I need a way to stop rust from spreading or at least slow it down, and I do not have a time machine so thats out of the question.

For 4th-gen Civics, simply removing the resonator box will free up the intake at no cost. Remove the "snorkel" piece that goes up over the exhaust, just behind the radiator, then remove the "Y" piece that enters the bottom of the airbox. Then, take off your front bumper and unbolt the plastic resonator box. Reinstall the bumper and you're done. A new K&N drop-in air filter is a good idea.
An aftermarket intake will help, but I personally believe that they do not provide enough gain for the money on a relatively stock D16A6. Others' opinions may vary. If you can pick up an aftermarket intake on the cheap, then do it.

The exhaust is probably just a muffler. To free up some power, eventually you may want to upgrade to a 2.25" mandrel-bent cat-back system with a free-flowing muffler (which muffler is usually personal preference). You'll probably also want to look into a high-flow catalytic convertor and an aftermarket header. You can learn more about exhaust setups for our cars by searching.
For plugs, use NGK or Denso. Use the spec that Honda recommends, unless you are boosting or using nitrous. Platinum plugs last longer than standard copper, but cost much more and should still be changed often, so I recommend to stick with regular copper plugs and chage them every 15,000 miles or so.
For plug wires, I suggest to use only OEM Honda (made by Sumitomo). Honda's ignition systems are some of the best OEM ignition systems out there, and are good up to about 400hp or more. Some of the fastest drag Civics out there are using completely stock ignition systems, with exception of the coil and plugs.

First, have any rust on your car's body removed and repaired. Then, squirt some oil around the inside of the rust-prone areas to keep the water away. Reapply often. Keep the exterior and the wheel wells free of filth and crud. Not driving the car in winter snow and salt will help considerably, but I understand that it is unavoidable if this is your only car.
There have been threads about rust prevention in the past, so a search should help you. I wish I could say there was a miracle fix, but there is not; it is the 4th-gen Civic's greatest enemy.
Of course, everything I post is JMO, and YMMV.

No, because the D16A6 is not a VTEC engine.
VTEC controllers are used to adjust the VTEC engagement point when (dyno-)tuning a VTEC engine.

I've heard it pronounced several ways (I personally say "myoo-ghen" with a soft G sound). Call up King Motorsports and ask them for a definite answer
