Tires squeel when my car shifts to second, Why?
Apparently your car has enough power, a solid enough transmission, and willing enough tires to break loose just a bit (the squeal or chirp you're hearing) when the tranny upshifts and second gear engages near the engine's torque peak.

tires may also be worn. on my old tires, i used to stomp and first or second and the wheels would break loose cause the tread had worn down so much. then again, i had some steel showing in them too. lol

not necessarily. when i had my stock michelins on, i could always chirp 1st and 2nd with my auto under 1/2 to 3/4 throttle. my tires were really bald. now that i have new michelins on(mx4 plus), they grip so damn good and never chrip anymore.
michelin mxv4's are the devil's tires... $130+ retail, terrible dry/wet grip, no sidewall stiffness... i guess they're pretty quiet and ok in snow for all season's but they wear like crap and start chirping at 50% traction. sorry, a lil bitter... just venting. btw, my v6auto peels thru 1st and into 2nd w/ them(70%tread left).
