Hello All
I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced poor traction in the snow? I have Goodyear Assurance tires on the vehicle and I am not sure if that is the problem.

Any suggestions on a better tire choice?

Bridgestone Blizzak's. Night and day difference.

There's your answer. You need dedicated snow tires. All season tires are almost worthless in snow, especially if you have several thousand miles on them already.

I want to get these tires but I have an apartment and nowhere to store four tires.

Some dealerships, especially the one where you purchased or service your car, will offer to store your off-season tires and wheels for a nominal fee.

Regarding your Assurance tires, how old are they? I ask because I had a pair on a car a number of years ago and they were pretty good in the snow, at least when they were new(ish), as they aged they got worse (as do all tires). That said, they were no where near as good as dedicated winter tires, but certainly good enough to deal with occasional snow.

They have about 30k on them. I am looking for a decent all weather tire. I am leaning towards the Continental pure contact. From what I have read they are rated very well.

Given the superiority of winter rubber over pretty much every other type of tire, arguing which winter tire to use is kind of like splitting hairs. I've used winter tires from Michelin, Continental, and Bridgestone, they are all good for at least their first half of tread life.

The funny thing, even though I live in snowy New Hampshire, I no longer feel the need to run winter rubber, modern all-season tires are getting so good they are "good enough" from my perspective.

I live in Wisconsin and had good luck with all season tires. On my 09 Accord I had General Altimax RT43's on it and they were good in the snow

IDK man tire rack seems to be pushing winter tires stating they are much better.

All-season tires have too hard of rubber compound for mileage. The only way to go is a studless winter tire.

Yeah it looks like I'll have to get those blizzacks. I just need to come up with a plan to store my regular tires.

All I can tell you is that, even the cheapest winter tires will perform a hundred times better than the most expensive all-season tires in the snow.

Ummm, no, not even close. Yes, it is true a very cheap pair of winter tires will most likely outperform a high end all season, in the snow, and on ice, however, the delta will not be huge; then there is when the roads dry out, you're left with a horribly crappy tire which, if anything, is far more dangerous than a good all season.
