Stick to changing oil every 3K miles, better safe than sorry.

may as well use a non synthetic if you plan on changing so often unless you're boosting

Ummm... A friend of mine who is a chemical engineer AND an ASE certified mechanic said most synthetics are good for at least 7,000 miles under regular daily driving, and up to 10,000 miles under moderate driving.
If you're paranoid and are going to change your synthetic every 3k or less, just use regular dino oil and save the$10 per change.
I'll be keeping my Mobil1 for another 3000 miles.

i get about 5000 max till i get jumpy about oil in my 97 GS-R with 111,500 miles. if you wait too long when you take it up into VTEC you'll feel a little hesitation from lack of oil pressure. of course you dont want to wait for that so id say between 4,000 and 5,000 on synthetic oil.

Yeah... I didn't ask him about the increased pressure for good VTec operation. I think his test results were strictly for viscosity breakdown. So, let me revise, ad go with 7000 at most.
In that case, I'd better be getting ready...

You don't really need to use full synthetic unless you are puishing some serious numbers in terms of horsepower. I was thinking about using Mobile 1 in my GSR but it's not really needed and it costs too much. Just save your money and run 5W30 Castrol. It's always been good to me, even when i run my car hard. It's good stuff.

NYC driving is not regular driving. Driving there puts a LOT of stress on all of the vehicle's mechanical parts. Change it every 3000.
