Tranny or Clutch or Slave Cylinder????
OK here is the deal.....I was driving home two nights ago when i notice my clutch pedal is very soft and almost hits the floor before the clutch even activates. So I think great my clutch or tranny is going bad. The reason I think this is because it happened about 4 months ago and it turned out to be my tranny. When I pulled the tranny off, I found a whole in the side of the tranny case. I got under my car and was inspecting the tranny case and didn't notice any damage to the case. Now my clutch won't engage at all. My car is stuck in nuetral and I can't get it into gear. I was thinking that it may just be the slave cylinder at this point but am not sure.
This is where I need your help. I need your opinions before i go out and buy a slave cylinder for no reason. Let me know what you think or if you have had this problems or similar problem before.
Thanks in advance for those who post up some helpful info.

Does your clutch pedal have a lot of free-play? Is it all the way down to the floor and does not return on it's own. Look at your clutch fluid level in your reservoir, if it's empty then your leaking clutch fluid. It can either be a busted slave cylinder or a shot master cylinder. Do you know where the slave cylinder is at? If so, look at it, have someone press down on the clutch and look at the boot around the slave cylinder unit, it should not be ripped, if it is then that's where you are leaking fluid.
