205/50/15 Hankooks for sale
.RJ, how do they compare to the Victoracers in your opinion? I see you're selling some so you have experience with both. I'd buy these if I lived closer, but with shipping to the West Coast probably not worth it. I'm going to see if I can get a group buy on these Hankooks in the future. thanks.

Could you give us your subjective opinion, how do these compare with Victoracers and RA-1 ? Life expectancy and relative grippiness?

Wear is better than the Victos, about the same as the RA-1. Supposedly they dont heat cycle out like the victos either, but I wont know for a while.
They are probably as sticky as the Toyo (I cant say for sure yet, will know after summit). The Victos have better steering response, but grip can fall off during the session if you push them too hard.

i'll jump in here.......
i run these exact tires (size and everything) on my miata. most everybody else will run toyo's. my personal opinion is that the hankook may have a smidgen more ultimate grip than the RA-1's. but.......here's the catch, the hankook's are only good at the beginning of their life, whereas the toyo gets better with age. this is why i run the hankooks, because a guy in my region uses them for a few weekends, then takes them off and gives them to me. i used 1 set of his takeoffs for 6 or so races plus a school before one started to blister. and even now, i'm sure they have a couple weekends left on them.
i feel like the hankook holds up over the length of a race better than the toyo. the toyo may tend to lose grip towards the end of the race, and the hankook is just as good as it was during the first lap. the breakaway characteristics are a bit different as well. the kooky will tend to act more like a slick, and let go with less feedback than the toyo will. once you get used to them, it's not a problem though. also, the kook likes to be run a couple lbs higher than the toyo in my experience, the 39-40 range hot seems to work best, maybe 38.
i have run kook's all season, but next year i'll probably be switching to the toyo if budget allows, as all but 1 of the fast guys in the region use them.
this is a great deal though, i bought some kooks that had 3 cycles on them (1 in the rain) for $300.

I thought this was the same complaint of the Hankook at Road Atlanta (the drift/psm/wc weekend) was that they had a couple good laps up front and fell off - they were fine the next session however. Might be a real good tire for DEs.

I need to find me a guy in Pro Spec Miata and hit him up for his used jobbers.

They are comparable to Toyos IMO. The Hankooks might fall off a little with time, but as an instructor and not a racer, I care not. They DAMN sure don't fall off like a Kumho. I threw a set away that was only 1/2 worn because my street tires were grippier...

I need a set of 4. How long is a "session" in your book, 30 minutes or a few hours?
Shoot me an email ccfries@yahoo.com and we can exchange details, or 224-436-2620.

Good school/open track tires, I've got a set now.
