my v-tec is not working but it does work when it is cold would that be the distubter because the bearings in the distubter are worn out when it does work the goes up to about 5800 rpms and then it goes on like a chip if is on the rev limter

your vtec should not work when the engine is cold so something
sounds froggy, have you checked oil level, any dents in the oil pan?
is your solenoid filter clean?

 

check ur oil.
