Default Good low budget suspension?

Hey everybody, i just got done swapping a b16 into my 90 hatch and I am now going to do suspension. My budget is pretty much about $400.

The car is my daily driver and i drive about 50 miles a day with it. I am looking for something that gives good handling, not to stiff, gives a good ride, and that lowers my car to about 1 finger gap.

I don't know if i want fake coilovers or just springs, and i don't really know what a good shock is with either of them. I live in south dakota and we have alot of snow, salt, sand on the roads during the winter and i heard that jacks up coilovers.

Thanks in advance-

cheap coilovers will not get you anything but a stiff ride and hard to adjust height youll end up wishing you never bothered installing.

just get eibach pro kit and either tokico illumina or kyb agx.

You can probably find the Tein S-Tech springs (-1.5") for $130 on ebay. Those and the Tokico blues for about $350 and I think you'd be happy. Whatever you do, stay away from the cheap coilovers. They are definitely a waste of money and you'll be pissed! If you were wanting to go with a coilover I'd recommend the ground controls but they run about $300 last time I look.

I'd say for $400, go with some Tein/Tanabe springs ($150?) and some Tokico shocks..or you can go with some KYB AGX. Good suspension imo..I hear Koni is offering shock/spring combos with matched rates now. You might wanna check into that before spending your cash. Definitely stay away from cheap coilovers..I just installed some GC Coilovers and Koni Yellows and let me say..the ride is alot harsher then stock but I can turn like whoa now haha. Thats what you get for performance over rideability.

Good luck homie.

There is no such thing as a low budget upgrade. Keep that in mind. If you go cheap, you're going to end up with one terrible ride.

I'd check out the classifieds if I were you. I've seen koni/Ground-controls for 550.

You could save a couple dollars and and get the Tien Basic dempers which are adjustable and run about $650.

you can buy springs now and get the shocks when you have more money. i baught a set of sprint extremes before and used them with my tokico blues and i loved the ride. it wasnt too hard pretty smooth and handles great fo the price. the price is not much more than $ 400 .

Omnipower makes them for the EF now. I would say go Omnipower $650 for a complete coilover kit, can't really beat that. I plan on picking up a set soon myself. Don't forget to get a ST rear sway bar, IMO the best suspension mod for our cars.

I would assume close to or around 3 inches.

more than 2 1/2" and you will have upper a-arm problems on the EF, and the ride and handling are great with the omnipower

Can someone link me to the ef omnipower coilovers. I searched yahoo and h-t and couldn't find anything on them. I also tried omnipowerusa.com too,and again no luck, so if anyone could link me that would be quality.

According to Mr. Saturn they don't make them yet. I talked to them a week or two ago and he said they have them just no listing on the site yet.
