My 1998 CW ITR was stolen late last night. All the Type R guys from here in Chicago were there too!! It was near Cermak right in Chinatown. Illinois tags no front plate. I don't even know what else to write. I'm done. I am not meant to own an R.
I WILL GIVE $1000 TO ANY ONE PERSON WHO GIVES ME THE RIGHT INFORMATION TO FIND MY CAR (IN ONE PIECE with all major parts)>CALL (224)627-7200
I AM DEAD SERIOUS.
$100 IF THE TIP HELPS ME FIND IT AS MORE THAN A SHELL AND CATCH THE CULPRITS.
Feel free to call and not say who you are. I will find away to give you the cash payment if and when I find the R.
JDM front end w/carbon fiber hood HID's
Gold Advan RG's
OEM lip kit
Red JDM Recaro's
JDM non-srs steering wheel
Mugen brake system
Mugen front and rear strut bars
Toda Fitex coil system. (No one around here has that set up so chances are if you see it it's mine)

Seriously, Chinatown Sucks. I hate living anywhere remotely near this area. This place is crooked as ****. I bet the car's sitting in some garage getting **** ripped apart right now. Good luck with the search. That last thread was **** cause everyone was trying to flame and be a ****** man about helping out.
I think everyone should STFU in that last thread and keep their god damn fingers crossed. my R was parked outside too and there was one incident where someone tried to break into my car with a screw driver in the key hole. I think everyone should just keep away from Chinatown.
It sounds weird that its not a local theft because who's gonna be around here and spot an ITR and get tools to steal the car?
Possible scenarios -
1)Theives were local. They saw the ITR, went home to get tools to steal car and came back for it.
I think the thieves would be worried about security. If they knew what an R was and what its worth, they'd check for security. I doubt they followed the R and just took off in it.
2)Theives were not local and had all the tools they needed to steal the car ( which i highly doubt).
3)Someone spot the R and made a call to someone that was local to take the car?
I really dont think anyone would be stupid enough to take a stolen car for a joyride. Especially one that stands out like that. JDM CW R's are rare to see in this area, Anyone have a description of the guys that were seen cruising in a JDM CW R? If the thieves were not local, they wouldn't be in the Milwaukee/Chicago area by Rednofive. Most of the time, im guessing the theives would take the car and head straight over to wherever they were gonna go. Most likely the highway/lake shore drive ( Big local routes as well ).
I dunno.. i might have missed some information from the last thread cause of all the gay flaming and ppl thinking they're hardcore without helping. Repost if must

Given how short a time the car was parked, I doubt that a "call was made". I think the thieves were out cruising, looking for a car to jack, and had the tools they needed with them. They saw yours and took it. If they hadn't taken yours, they would have taken someone else's car.
Were they "local" (meaning from Chinatown) or from somewhere else in the city/burbs? Could be either one, but they were cruising in Chinatown.
Sucks, no matter what...

give him a break, atleast his trying to give a reward. maybe thats all he has to give.
as far as tools needed,i thing all they really need is a screw driver to steal a car. more likelly they were driving around, broke in, pushed it to a safe location, then worked on getting it started.
hate to stereo type, but china town is not exactly a place to park a R. i think places like that has thieves just waiting looking around for victims.

I hate to say it, but if it hasn't been found yet, it probably won't be found. Except as a bare shell or mostly picked apart car.
Hopefully your insurance is being fair with you and you have some reciepts or verification of your modifications.
Sorry for your loss again... unfortuantely I'm not sure any of us can help at this point other than looking for stolen parts FS, etc.
Oh - and about the thieves - I'm sure they were doing as Ken stated, cruising for a car. I doubt they got a 'tip' from a friend or made some call to get tools. There's no time for that. Very sad to think they are constantly roaming for cars.... I've parked my car down there several times for many hours, now I think I might question if I want to do that again.
Chris - who says chicago has been very lucky until recently in regards to car thefts.

I agree. We had eye witnesses saying they saw the car 20 minutes before we left the restaurant. They probably saw it acted as fast as possible. I bet the car is probably bare bones now... Just start looking for a new car Reggie.

Just because it was stolen in Chinatown, doesn't mean it was stolen by someone of Asian descent.

Practically impossible. No one knew where they were going, or where they were going to park, or what 20-minute window it would be unattended.

as far as that statement goes, that's the worst thing i've heard. We all know each other and know how much money and time we've spent on our cars. And for you to make that claim really puts a dark emphasis on fellow R owners. Nobody told anyone, it was just a small group of friends to celebrate someone's b-day and moving away party.

Like ken said no one knows for sure if they were asian or not, two people have mentioned things already of sightings and were both different. Descriptions that they saw asians and a different claim indicated mexicans.
