I have a b18a that i rebuilt about 3 months ago and its burning oil like crazy. After a week of searching ive finally found that it is leaking through the spark plug gromit into my #3 cylinder. The gromits are brand new(as well as every other gasket/seal in the engine) and ive hondabonded it about 3 times now. I cant figure out how the hell its still leaking. All i know is the oil has fouled up like 3 plugs now and its kiling my power...not to mention all the smoke and oil drops that im getting on my rear bumper. Has anyone else had this problem...if so then how did you fix it? Everytime i take off the valve cover and put hondabond on it it seems like its better for a day or so. And it runs like a raped ape for that day...then the next day its more smoke and oil residue. Its starting to drive me crazy...i dont usually post for help but im all out of ideas. I was about to say **** it and put some rtv around the spark plug threads but i think that would seriously hurt the performance of that plug. Thanks in advance for the help.
that valve cover grommet shouldn't really foul out your spark plugs nor will it cause oil to get into your combustion chamber so it won't come out your exhaust and onto your rear bumper. looks like you're dealing with more than one problem.
if the valve cover grommet's leaking, your spark plug wire boot should still seal off most of your spark plug. it will still conduct and fire. at least from experience.
oil out of your exhaust sounds more like a valve seal or something leaking.

The oil is actually leaking through around the threads of the plug and getting into the combustion chamber that way. When i take out the plug it has oil all around the threads and the plug is always really oily...if not completely fouled. Ive seen this happen before on hondas but it can usually be fixed with some hondabond around the spark plug gromit. Any suggestions?
you sure the valve cover around that spark plug hole isnt cracked?
plus......once the spark plug is threaded into the head and torqued down there is no way oil will get into that cylinder....if it's accually buring oil it's getting into the cylinder from somewhere else.....valve seals or piston rings......

Well i did a compression check and the numbers were actually a little higher then normal...so i dont think its the rings. Maybe something is off with the threads or something. Because i stuck a paper towel down in the plug hole and soaked up all the oil before i took the plug out...and there was still oil on the threads. I know that theyre tight enough because its hard as **** to get them out. How can i find out if its the valve seals without taking the head off....cuz i just did that a few weeks ago and i dont really wanna go through that again so soon. lol
