What racetrack is this?
Test track. I think I remember reading a thread on CC.com about this track a while back. The concensus was that it was a test track owned by Honda.
They should open it up for Honda owners.

This was a bit west of the track I photographed. From the air I would think this lake/river was 5-10 miles away from that track.

It was about an hour into my flight from Denver to Cali, so I would think the Arizona (the plane had already passed those red rock formations) or Nevada area?

I think yours was the Chrysler track. I think both chrysler and ford have tracks there.
It was not Honda, because Honda's test track is an hour from my house near. Honda's track is near Cal City!

I did some research and found out the photo above is Lake Havasu. The track I photographed is Ford's Arizona Proving Ground in Yucca, AZ. The straights on the oval are 4500 feet in length. The oval is about 5 miles long.

On Jan. 15, 1954, Ford Motor Company announced plans for a large, new desert proving ground in northwestern Arizona. Nearly 4,000 acres, the Arizona Proving Grounds includes the former Yucca Airbase, a WWII training base for the Army Air Corps. Midway between Las Vegas and Phoenix, the Arizona Proving Grounds—or APG—has a five-mile, high-speed oval, a salt bath and other facilities used for performance and durability testing. With average July highs of almost 103 degrees, it is also ideal for warm weather testing.
APG has countless miles of roads, concrete, asphalt and gravel roads, it has grades of 20 and 30 percent, an elevation of 1,950 feet and nearby mountains over 6,000 ft. Nearby warm weather sites include the Mojave Desert and Death Valley. APG is one of six Ford proving grounds worldwide. There are two in Michigan—in Dearborn and Romeo—and in Lommel, Belgium; Tatui, Brazil and You Yangs, Australia.

I can confirm that is FoMoCo's Arizona Proving Ground. I spend much of my winter/spring there doing development work.
It's the middle of nowhere, Yucca AZ, not Kingsman. We (FoMoCo) engineers stay down at Havasu (40 mins away) and commute to Yucca. The only good part about being down there in is that we usually get to experience spring break every year.

both looked much smaller from the pics..
pretty cool that it was identified though..
