good setup for what? for acceleration, shorter gearing will always be better. However, if you want good cruising gas milage, longer gears would be ideal. Tell us what your goals are with this "good setup" and you'll get better answers.

I would upgrade the final drive in the gsr tranny, and throw an ls 5th in...

buy all the B-series trannies and then decide what you want. sell the rest for more money than what you bought them for.

each tranny is designed for the motor its meant to be mated with. thats why they have these ratios. LS tranny on a GSR will accelerate significantly slower and you wont come up with any better gas mileage really. you will however be geared for a higher top speed. same with the GSR tranny on an ITR. most people put shorter geared transmissions on their motors for acceleration purposes.

the only time you'll ever see me with another LS tranny is if i'm making 500+whp. other than that...my gsr tranny will do.

it'll be like a GSR with mods.

It'll perform just fine really, but it will be slower than a ITR/ITR combo. The ITR tranny has shorter gearing which will help acceleration. Also, you won't have the limited slip differential...a BIG deal.

All in all, I'd say that you'd lose .3-.5 in 0-60 and the 1/4 mile if you use the GSR tranny.

well the only reason i would see why someone would use a gsr tranny instead of LSD for a itr motor is due to the shortage of financial funds.
