What size is the rear and front speakers on a 1990 Accord EX 4dr?
Im looking to upgrade my cars audio and so far ive gotten 2 different measurements for the front speakers. 5inches and 6 1/2 inches. the back speakers are 6in by 9in ive been told but i was assuming this would be the best place to ask.
Feel free to suggest speakers and head units and such. Online store recomendations are much appreciated to.
Thanks in advance

i put 6 1/2's up front and i believe EX's came with 6x9 in the rear, if not, you can always fab the rear deck to handle em
if they dont take em, then they take 6 1/2's as well

ok so ive gotten about 3 and a half answers.
i have no idea what the 6.5 speakers with a 1 inch spacer means (does it mean the size is 5.5 inches?)
5.25? You got the box lying around and you could go check?
i know the back is square and 6x9 seems to be it but i dont think anyone else said 6 1/2s worked up front.
i guess when they were making the speaker holes in the front of the car they were just cutting at will and not making them all the same size. crap

if you take off the doorpanel, you can see the 4" speaker that is in it right now...
unbolt that huge piece of crap and you should see a space in there, what i did was i bought a speaker bracket for a 02 accord SE. mounted a 5.25" OEM speaker (which my friend gave me for free) in that bracket. its a perfect fit and you dont need any spacer or anything.
if you want to go with aftermarket speakers, you will need to cut out the plastic basket on the bracket (you'll know what i mean when u have that piece) because the aftermarket speaker is deeper, thus will not fit in the bracket w/o modification.
i really dont know how people fit the 6.5"s

its easy... and these type r's arent too stocky either for 6.5's...they have a pretty tall mounting depth, hence the 1 inch spacer needed to make it work.

i bought a set of one inch spacers for 6.5 inch speakers... made by metro or something like that...
i only needed em because of the deep mounting depth of the type r's...some speakers would prolly work without the spacer.

i was just wondering about the spacer installation, i am in the middle of installing my 6.5s in my doors and i just noticed they wont fit.. so if you have any info on how to install them or how difficult it is or anything like that id appreciate it, thank.

Just go to http://www.crutchfield.com and enter your car make and model and year and all that stuff and it will tell you what size speakers fit. I have a 96 Accord EX and 6.5's go in front and 6X9's in the rear. They can't be very deep for the front ones though unless you want to cut then you may be able to go bigger.
I looked and Crutchfield says 5" front and 6X9 Rear and they are usually right I have never seen there thing tell you the wrong size although sometimes stuff will fit that it says it wont but usually it will fit if it says it will.
