i know the "r" pistons from honda are coated. does anybody know if the whole piston is coated or just the skirt? i was thinking of polishing the dome of the piston. any input? should i just leave the dome alone? no polishing if the dome is coated? any input will be appreciated... thanks in advance.

 

Only the skirt is coated. If the casting on the dome has rough or sharp edges, carefully file it down.

 

you know this for a fact right? yeah dome's not perfect so i wanted to clean it up a little. thanks for your input...

This is a fact. I have held ctr and itr pistons in my hands and only the skirt is coated.

never held the whole piston outside of the motor yet though....
