Default Integra Clock Pod Cover

All:

Been designing this conceptually for a while...now it's reality!

01'R Clock Pod Project:

Custom Pod with Boost Gauge (still to hook up), VTEC Light (working), and Shift Light (installing MSD RPM Activator soon). In addition, I will be thermal-laminating the surface area that is shown with carbon fiber. Another week, it should be done. Oh yeah, no holes drilled in dash so that one could go back to factory style with no problems!

Thoughts?

if there was a way to make the material match the dash material a little better, that would be real hot

Too bad they dont have a piece like the Feel's Gauge holder for LHD vehicles, Basically It extends from the hump of the gauge cluster straight out and then down right about where the clock would be, Holds about 3 or 4 gauges.

Sorry No Pic

I used a "flat black" durable paint for now. I will be thermal laminating the entire thing or maybe just the base with carbon fiber. I have another idea how to make this unit a lot quicker and a bit more clean than when I did here. If that works out I am going to go to an autobody shop and have them paint it the interior color of my car. That's what I originally intended but I was trying to save some $$$ too.

Hmmm, would anybody out there consider purchasing something like this? I mean a completely done unit with all parts and/or a kit?

As far as something from the cluster to where the clock would be - thought about that too. Actually making that would just be a little bigger and a way to secure it down would be harder unless you would use velcro (that wouldn't be that clean) or screws (to each his own). I didn't do this for the reason that I did a gauge cluster in my glove box prior (which will be carbon fibered soon):

I just needed "1" gauge to be visible at all times (boost) while the others are for tuning purposes.

itr0677,

I'm from the N'West Chicago Burbs and would be interested in seeing this in person! I may be interested in a set-up like that!

Chris,

In the next week or so I should be finishing up the unit I currently have in the car. I have decided to thermal-laminate the base portion which is currently covered in black felt with carbon fiber. How 'bout you Email me your address and when I am completed we could get together and discuss plans for you.

I did figure out how to make a 3-gauge cluster the similiar way.

Let me know.

Fuzznuts,

Let's see, the carbon fiber - hmmm, should I just paint the entire unit black and/or factory dash color? Would that solve the problem in your eyes.

Second, the led's are there, just not lit up, so I used Photoshop to give the example. In real life, the left is blue for VTEC light and the right is bright orange for shift light.

Commenting on the first project. It was real easy to do. This one was a tad harder due to the fact that the first project I glued the pod to the top of a piece of plastic with a hole cut out and in this case I dremel'd the base to the contours of the actual pod (hence why I was able to cut about 1" off of the height and was able to angle it a bit more).

Tell me, I'd really like to market this.

All:

I was able to revise the carbon fiber. Actually, I had created a new seperate unit with a different cut, fit and angled a bit more towards the driver and a tad higher to accomodate a jumbo 5000mcd LED to be used as shift light. This time everything went together better and the paint I used was as close I could get to the factory dash (still flat and black).

Take a look:

here's a few suggestions:

finish the edges to make it look a little more factory, like put a /------\ kinda thing on it. also, could the base be made to fit the indention for the clock? just a though
