Default NEW AEM intake??

This might have been posted before, but I can't find it in a search.

http://www.aempower.com/new_product.htm

Does anybody know about the new polished intake and the new filter? Isn't that the same type of filter currently on the injen? Is this actually more powerful, and finally, how much?

Alex- who wants his CAI

Personally, I think it is a ploy by AEM to make more money. By making their own filters, more money can be saved than buying filters from K&N or some other company.

There probably isnt a big difference as far as peformance goes between the two.

I saw the new design, it is better. The older design had the same filter with a metal pipe in it to connect to the intake tube. This metal tube was restrictive, so they got rid of it. Get a ICEMAN intake they are the best intakes.

Do you know how much this new design costs?

Sort of like an NA blow off valve... cool!

Another question,

How do you think this new AEM sizes up against the Injen (They are now even more similar)?

I thought Injen was a copy of the AEM?

Yes, but now it seems that the AEM is more of a copy of the Injen (i.e. polished and same type of filter)

The filter is still made by K&N, it's just an improved design. I doubt you'll see the posted HP gains. Maybe at the crank. As for the rip off thing, they started selling their intakes polished now. Big deal. If Injen started making red ones, would that be a ripoff?

Personally, I don't own either intake. I looked at Injen, but I didn't like their poor build quality. I ditched the AEM after I tried the Icebox. The Icebox performs a lot better for me, so I'm sticking with that.

Actually S+B makes AEM's new filter.....This was the original company AEM used to make their filters, before they used K+N. The S+B is of the same material (oil impregnated cotton gauze in a stainless steel mesh)and quality as the AEM. I dont think there will be any hp difference. The polished intakes have been available for over a month now and we do have them on the shelf. Thanks, Mark.

I think the original AEM with the seperate air horn was still the best design...too bad you can't get them anymore.

just FYI, injen is not a copy of AEM. They did have an AEM with them (mine) when they designed the CAI for the ITR, but the bends are different. The Injen has shallower bends all around. See pics below:

I have an Injen and the only complaint I have is that the crankcase breather hose mount is too upright and kinks the tubing under the Upper strut tower brace. Other than that
