Default Lap times - modded ITR vs stock M3 (same driver) on a Solo 2 track

Scott (2qwik2nv) in his ITR with zeal S6s and R comps and I participated in a solo 2 event this weekend. Being my first event in a RWD car which I owned for 3 weeks, my best time around the course was 56 seconds in the M3. Scott's best time in his ITR was 50 seconds.

After all the laps that counted, there were fun runs, so Scott jumps into the M3, having never driven RWD before on the course, and pulls off a 47.3 second run on a bone stock M3 , while drifting 270 degrees around the final part of the course.

That time is equivalent to what the modded (supercharged) Miatas with suspension work, and on R comps were running. I think that it was an eye opener for him (ITR does not own all for this type of event), and also for me. I learned that its all driver, and I have a lot of learning to do

Anyway, here are some pics

Me, sliding that German POS around

In autoX, it just depends on who has a better setup for that day's course setup. If it's a tight course w/ lots of hairpin turns, RWD owns. If it's a rather straight course w/ lots of slalom, fwd doesn't fall far behind. ITR is a great car for DStock (& maybe STX), but that's just about it... there are so many other cars (in different class) that own ITR. I bet that AE86 would own ITR if properly modded (no emission control, gutted interior, springs & shocks + R-compoun as only mods) at any autoX event... now, that doesn't make it "better" than an ITR. It just depends on how you look at it.

Nice M3.

Yes, those are regas, not slipstreams . They need to be polished though. It rolled off the boat mildly modded with coilovers, full exhaust, the rims, boost and water temp guages, turbo timer, boost controller and an additional fuel pump

We took it for boot though some country canyons, it handles really nicely. We had some fun

Hahaha...it does kinda look like a duck if you squint. It's just a guy in a helmet with the back of his wrist up to his forehead.

*still laughing at the duck*
