Rattle Can Dilemma
So my low budget drag CRX is finally wrapped up and I want to paint it. I dropped by a few shops , some wanted 600, 800, or even a grand. Im not about to pay that much to paint a race car, so my two options are Maaco or I will rattle can it myself. I figure a Maaco job will run me 400 or so, while a rattle can job will be closer to 75. My concern is that if I try to rattle can it, and dont like it, that a Maaco job will cost more for one reason or another (not sure how they prep and what not). The other dilemma is that the car is silver, and I would only spray paint it flat black. I have the interior stripped completely so every painted suface is exposed and might be hard to spray paint, and I cant do the engine bay. If I had Maaco do it I would have the outside sprayed in S2000 silverstone so the difference wouldnt be noticeable, and it would match my S2000. Any input?
rattle can a whole car? if you're just going to primer it, rattling is alright cause you're gonna sand it down anyway, but base coat?
IMO invest in a decent air compressor and a spray gun.. Maaco won't give you a decent job for $400.. that paint will start chipping and fading after a year or so..
