Default Crank Pully Q (2 Engines out of the car.... )

Ive got an H23 bolted to my tranny (broken) and an H22 (no tranny/flywheel) sitting in my friends garage side by side. I need to do the timing belt on the H22A and I want to change the tensioner to manual so I need the parts from H23.

I've read people discussing jamming a screwdriver in the teeth of the flywheel to lock the pulley so you can break it loose... Can somebody please give me SUPER detail how to do this ? I can't picture it and it being strong enough to hold it while trying to break the other free ..

Also, with both engines sitting on the ground in the garage, which way am I turning the bolt ? .. will I be rotating towards the back (oil filter) or the front (exhaust mani) ?

As far as an impact driver, I have small like 5hp aircompressor (its about the size of a spare tire) .... the gauge goes up to 200lb .. would this be enough to pop it?

Thanks!

(Yes I searched... and searched.. and read and read)

Just jam it in however you can, i used a bolt threaded into the block as a leverage point and had someone hold it in place while i broke the bolt loose. A good impact wrench should just get it off though. They are not reverse threaded, so just turn it to the left. (towards the oil filter). Good luck, those bolts are a pain without good impact tools.

A good 3/4 impact will break it loose or if you could get your hands on the special Honda tool. I've never been able to break it loose with a 1/2 inch impact.

I guy off a message board local to me "made" the honda tool, I borrowed his .. broke 2 ratchets then bought a proper 1/2" drive flex bar (breaker bar if you will) and 19mm deep socket.

leg pressed it once using the IM as leverage.. popped the ****** right off.

off with a half in impact.

17" breaker bar, I was using a ratchet before..

19" deep socket, 1/2 drive . .. with the honda tool .. that **** came right off ..

uhm .. for those that may make the same mistake as me in the future, a ratchet with a long pipe on the handle is not a "breaker bar" .. your ratchet WILL snap ... (my bad)

thx for the help!!

Now i've got the tensioner belt stuck in with lock tight to remov e.. grrrr
