It's a tube frame silhouette car.

Yep, do a google for "Chassis by Trivette" and you'll come up with some other associated info...

It appears that the RWD CRX's DNF'd at Daytona a couple months ago... http://www.gt-racecar.com/foru...D=372

Christian, who thinks the idea of a RWD CRX is cool... even though it's a bit backwards

The Montalvos are father and son tube frame GT4 CRX racers and have one each front and rear drive car. They have run for many years at the Runoffs with the son being the faster one. 'Glas bodies, true racing stuff, etc. I have seen them for years in the Honda tent. My personal opinion is that they could have been turned out a bit nicer but their results on track were always pretty good.

Depends if you have that kind of play money. I thought the price might be a bit high for my tastes but don't know the spares package or anything.

Are any of the competitive GT2-GT4 class cars with FWD bodies actually FWD? I'm talking about the Celica, Paseo, Sentra, etc. bodied cars.

A few have been in GT4 and GT5 but not many in recent years. Definatley not in GT2 and GT3 for quite a long time. As the power and speed goes up, the RWD advantage becomes clearer. Not to say it can't be done (Jamie Houseman and Kirk Olson are good examples in the lower classes) with FWD but you start further behind the 8-ball for sure. In GT2, starting with FWD would be like starting by slashing your wrists.

Yeah when you are up in the GT2/3 ranks really the body is just more for nostalgic purpose then anything else. The last national event I went to that had a Ford Probe, 240SX, SunFire etc... RWD and basically the only similarity with the engine/drivetrain choice was the nameplate. I thought the story behind that GT5 Starion was pretty cool in GRM a few issues ago.

If you're interested in a cheaper, albeit not quite as hardcore, RWD CRX, check out the GRM forum, the guy who built one for the $2004 Challenge is on there and is willing to sell. I would've picked it up, but among other things, I think the guy just didn't like me... His name on there is "dcrabill". Seemed like a very nice guy

I forget which GT class the Mini is in, but I remember seeing Huffaker's RWD racing against an equally wide FWD version at the Runoffs or ARRC or whatever GT cars run in.

This looks nice, but wouldn't be a GT4.

Interesting how they (or someone) put in adjustable spring collars but never removed the stock string seats. That NSX is a real nice drivetrain.... never even considered it for my Mini though, must be $$$$.

About the CRX, I wonder why they didn't just put the entire FWD drivetrain behind the seats like I'm doing. Bad weight distribution?

Here are some more links to the Montalvo's cars for sale and some additional RWD/CRX info too. It looks like he has lowered the price.

IMHO, GT-4 is the (competitive) limit for a front wheel drive car in SCCA GT.

actually those are my dads and granpas cars for sale.

we have adaptor plate to quarter master bellhousings and another adaptor plate to the box.
we use a 2 piece drive shaft, header that looks similar to that one on the 3v, and a different header on the 4v. Dog boxes can spin both ways where as helical cut gears cant.

yep both dnf ed at daytona. oiling problems in the 4v and busted a universal joint in the 3v at 8500 in 5th on the back straight and bent the chassis

the red GT-3 car is Jerry Lustig's integra

whatt tranny is used?

steve schwitters dogbox in an alfa case

how did they mounts it

we made the mounts with 1 1/4 inch tubing

were selling them because my grandpa may retire and my dad wants to go to D ( D sports racer)

buy one! (or two)

email him!

Joey and Preben Christensen also built one, much more expensive, custom cams to spin backwars

we spin counter clockwise

theirs spins clockwise like the rest of the world
