WHat to do with a 92 Integra RS
I have a '92 integra with 217k and its running great. I want a little, or should I say a lot more power and I'm trying to look at all my options. The easiest would probably be an ls/vtec, or even simply building an all motor n/a. I want to be able to keep the costs between 3-4k. I can do alot of the work myself if it is relatively bolt up-type stuff. SO if some one was going to give you 3/4k and this car, what would you do? TIA
BTW car is completely stock right now

that was completely stupid
i would build an ls vtec set up, with 3-4k you can have a nice setup goin.
do a lot of research on the motor you would like to put in, there are many options - ls/vtec, b20/vtec, b18c1, b16a, etc. I would try to get a vtec head though. Make sure you also put in a different transmission with better gearing. The LS tranny is not built for fast acceleration - look into a GSR or ITR/B16 tranny.
if the motor has that many miles on it i wouldnt want to make it an ls/vtec, too much strain on the engine... you dont want to take any chances. if i were you and had that money, id go the b16a route...

build it...
i'd rebuild the whole motor from the bottom end up.

did you have to get rid of anything ex
/S or A/C? Is it intercooled?

If you are considering turbo, I would definately check out the G2 turbo guide on G2IC.com. It talks about some of the options for kits, as well as building your own custom kit. Pretty good stuff
I built a semi-decent turbo kit running Uberdata for about $1100 total cost (my first attempt at a turbo) on my otherwise stock 92 RS. Even at low boost with a small-*** turbo, an intercooler that pretty much acted as a paperweight, ABS piping from Home Depot for charge piping (that blew off daily, no matter how much you tightened the little *****), and a relatively untuned Uberdata/SAFC setup, the car hauled ***** and held up with WRX's easily, V8's, and literally blew the doors off of any Honda I could find.
Granted another turbo Honda would probably rape me silly, but it's all good. I spent $1100 and built my kit from scratch off of used parts. With $2k-4k, you could buy non-shitty parts (NEW parts! Holy crap!) and build a kit that'll blow the crap outta me and the rest of the N/A import world and it'll last a long-*** time.
A B18C1 full swap wouldn't be a bad idea, either. If you want to stay N/A, and you got that amount of change floating around, don't do a B16A or B18C5. You can't afford a B18C5 swap and labor anyway (
to whoever suggested that). B18C1 would be a great platform for either boost or N/A, and it comes with the shorter-ratio tranny that someone else suggested.
Btw, if you're going turbo, look for a book called Maximum Boost by Corky Bell. It's the bible. Read that and research on here and you'll find everything you need. Don't be afraid to ask questions either. Peace.

You already have the lightest of that year integra. Further the weight reduction a bit. Put together a good solid all motor budget setup. Get some decent suspension and tires, and take it out on the road course.
Thanks for all the replies guys, he now has a lot of good routes to take. Most likely he will go with a built all motor, or a built ls/vtec, but will deffinetly stay away from the c5, and b16's... unless he can find a bigger motor that will fit *relatively easiely* fit in there (nothing with a hydro tranny).
If you think about it there is no reason to swap the motor for another b18 when you could build it for close to the same price...
and if money starts falling off trees, a built Turbo...
