Driving without front reinforcement bar???
I have an aftermarket front bumper cover being put on my 94 ls and the dumb thing will not fit over the front reinforcement bar...the body shop guy said the only way to make it fit would be to remove the front reinforcement bar. He didn't want to do this ( and i dont want him to) because any bad front end collision and the engine is going to be in my lap. The bumper is a combat style, (i know a lot of you guys hate body kits...but i dont) are there any solutions to this problem??? I find it hard to believe that everyone who has this kit is driving around without a front bumper reinforcement, and i refuse to. please help...
I dont know but do they make thinner reinforcement bars? Or where the cover touches the bar see if you can cut off metal.... just a suggestion
i wish i could see what the problem is with my own eyes, but its at the shop. Does anyone know of any thinner bars, perhaps from a civic or anything???

Well, a lot of folks who run front intercoolers don't have the bar. If you ever get in a front-end wreck, just get ready to replace the condensor, radiator, radiator support and anything else in the front. The stock bar isn't that sturdy, but it does absorb a lot of the impact that will now go straight to the front end components. Of course, most of those pieces will need to be replaced anyways in a front-end wreck with the bar, it will just be a little more bent up. Just make sure you have full coverage!

My friend had the same problem but only had to cut half of the bump off, and pretty sure u can just cut half off too. whoever cuts off there bump support to fit a intercooler is WOW WAT A BIG INTERCOOLER!! lol.. u should just get a kit tat can fit witout the cut of the bump support, like whoever said u get in a crash, get ready to replace more then wat u spent for tat kit.
You can cut it, not safe tho! I did it to my car it looks hell ugly plus If you have the shop cut it they don't give a f.. they well f.. up so cut it your self and if you can put the kit yourself do it! it will save you money and you'll be suprise! you might do a better job than the shop!! just my 02
thanks guys, i called the shop back (the guy who is working on it is a family friend) and he said he could just trim the reinforcement instead of fully removing it. I don't think he will do a janky job, and i am sure it will be better than what i could do. As far as price goes...1400 for installing the entire kit and painting the entire car...not bad eh. This is no Earl Sheib place either, supposedly they are ranked in the top 50 in the U.S.
I resolved my issue. I purchased a crash bar from these guys: http://www.checkerdsports.com/csprod...bumperbar.html
JDM SiR-G Integra from Japan has stub bracket for support doesn't even have a bar going across. So its safe running around without one or you can cut it to fit with your bodykit. I have a bodykit before but it wasn't the one that you went with it were the C-West one.
