Lightweight Battery
Hey anyone running this battery, and what do you think of it is it reliable, worth etc...?

I have a similar battery. I wouldn't rely on this battery in cold weather or to play a stereo at all when the car isn't running. But it saves a ton of weight from the front of the car.
You'll be fine.
As far as those lightweight drycell batteries go, I would assume they all have short reserve lives and can be dramatically affected by cold weather. I wouldn't get one in a daily driven car.

the hawker genesis G16EP has around 280 CCA. it takes roughly 220 amps to work the starter motor.
these are not suggested for cars in cold climates, nor for people with crazy systems, but if you live in a place like california and have just regular electrical components, a lightweight battery is a solid option for a daily driven car.
one point of caution though, is that these batteries do not like heat. An engine bay is much hotter than optimal for one of these kinds of batteries, and will significantly shorten their life to about 1 year. If you've relocated the battery to the trunk you could expect something like 2-4 years of life out of this battery. shelf life of a lightweight battery is outstanding, at something like 7-10 years.

optimas weigh like 50 lbs, and ~100+.

i have a battery like that for sale for 50 bucks if anyone is interested. i don't recommend it if you are a first time driver for manual though. if you stall a couple times you're fu*k
I think a lightweight battery in the Lude is key. Our batteries sit right on the nose of the car which is not where you want weight sitting (read
I=mR^2)) in order to get your car to rotate
The same reason why mid-engined vehicles tend to rotate better is the same reason you don't want the battery sitting toward the end or you car.
having the wieght centralized, not mention less weight is ideal.
below are the stats on a few of the lightweight batteries on the market now. I've had one in my ITR in UT for almost a year.. we see extreme temps, goes from snow to heat in a matter of months
I've got an explanation of what all those stats mean and the test of the batteries that was adminstered by Braille Automotive in .pdf format. I can email it if you'd like, just drop me an IM.
