Default boiling brake fluid, pic?

This is not Honda related, but, I figured, this is the best place to ask a question like this. thanks in advance

Pic below was taken right after some hot lapping at buttonwillow (west-loop). I've never seen the systoms of what a boiling brake fluid looks like. Right before pitting, my brakes faded so bad I couldn't induce the ABS to kick in. It was just not strong enough to lock up the brakes. first I thought it was just the pads that were over-heating, but after checking the resevoir, there were bubbles trapped underneath the silk like screen. It wasn't actually boiling but never the less they were bubbles I've never seen before. I'm guessing it might have actually hit boiling point during brake fade???

btw, I'm using OEM fluid, pads, etc.. OEM everthing on my celicas brake system.

With fluid that low it probably got the air trapped under the filter when you pressed the brake pedal and the fluid level dropped below the filter.

hmm.. you might be right?!?! However, I highly doubt thats the case. I always top off the brake reservoir and when I first checked, there were only two bubbles at the time. The next day I checked, there were more bubbles and it had grown to size. Could it be the bubbles trapped in lines found there way up the resevoir over night?

how is your brake pedal now- if it is fine without having bled the brakes- I would say that it didn't boil. Also- as it cools, the fluid level will drop, making those "bubbles" appear larger.

Brake force is fine, although i haven't really given it a hard thought. brake pedal might feel a little mushy, but its hard to tell since the stock pedal already has a little mush built in to it. I'll check it some more. Thanks

ever think how much the fluid sloshes around in there?

Easy to get more bubbles under the screen then.
