92 Prelude Si / Hard time starting up car / Clutch Problem?
Hey,
Just drove my first 300 miles or so on my 92 Si I just purchased. However I've ran into a problem. I can no longer turn the key in the ignition and start the car fast. When I first drove the car I could just turn key and it would start up strong no problem.
Now, when I turn the key immediately, there's sometimes no response. I have to press the clutch almost down to the floor for the car to start. Also sometimes it takes more then once to start. I turn ignition the car will start slightly, and die. 2nd almost same, and third usually the charm.
I'm thinking it might have to do something with the clutch? Maybe some adjustment? Any ideas?
Thanks

What does the fuel filter do? I was planning to change it for a tuneup anyway. Is this a common symptom for a bad fuel filter?
It ..........filters the fuel
Yes this a common symptom of a clogged fuel filter. It may not be the problem but it is definetly the cheapest fix. The fuel filter is a wear item and should be replaced anyway.
If I were you i would change the filter and if the problem still occurs come back and bump the thread.

Well you should have to push the clutch to the floor to start the car. If sometimes it wont' crank over you could check the switch.. IIRC it is located right in the footwell at the back of the clutch pedal. It's the little switch that tells the car that the cltuch is depressed and it is safe to start.

Any specific/good fuel filter that I should buy? I checked autozone, and theres a "DEUTSCH" one for $23.00. Will this perform alright? Also, should I change my PCV valve while I'm at it or, just leave it?
thx
thx
I use the autozone filters, no problems here.
If you are worried about the quality, go to the dealership and get an OEM filter.
As far as the pcv valve, yes you should go ahead and change it. Should take you about 5 seconds.
