Yes No Filter will Make the oil more Dirty. Also It Will Destroy the Clynder Walls. Youre motor Wont blow up. No doubt youve takin away alot more life then you would have if you had one. And Try to always Run a Paper or Cotton Filter they work the best, Paper is the best tho.
Any Filter will Work. They All do there Job, Paper is just Better at it, thats all. As Far as Companys Go im not sure whos the best. Just by a Cheap one and make sure the Sponge stuff doesn't look cheap. EX: Big Pores. Looks brittle. stuff like that.

I finally fixed it tonight. My oil is dirty but I can't tell if it got dirtier any faster. i'm paranoid my zc is gonna blow any day 'cause i've had no filter for so long. comments please.</TD></TR></TABLE>
that is a dumb thing to do man...or woman...

Damn, running a filter with cracked neck would have still been better than no filter at all! Never run an engine without an airfilter unless you plan on rebuilding the engine often. In which case you should install an engine "hours" gauge to keep track of how much time is on the engine.
You know most of the turbo guys/gals don't use a filter either so don't feel too bad. I don't encourage running an engine with no filter but remember it's already done so let's make the best of it.
I am sure you seen the metal screens that some people use on their turbos. Just imagine, a $700 turbo with a $2 dollar screen that will suck a Hoover.
Make the extra effort to get get a filter and keep the engine bay clean, Kind of like the Chevron commercial.

I've never understood the reasoning behind that....putting $5K++++ into a motor and not even making a half-hearted attempt to keep it clean.
I generally only see that on guys that don't drive on the street regularly; the trailer queen guys. But I'm sure there's some hardcore guys that are street driven like that

yeah, filter is a good thing if you want your motor to last..what about those itb doods not to many doods with those things use filters,i would atleast use those little filter hats or whatever they are called..
i dunno about the itb guys, but running no filter will mess things up, is sand or dirt particals get trapped between your rings or anywhere around there it will grind away slowly but surely at your cylider walls.
the with the scratches and scrapes in your walls, the rings wont seal properly thus causing "blowby" and oil burning, along with lower compresion.thats in a prolonged timeframe.... change your oil asap. then in about a week or sooner change it again. hopefully it will get some of the stuff that got in there out.
as for filter choice... i would say go pick up a paper (or a normal) filter, the foam filters(the cheap ones) have been known to fall apart and the foam filter eliment getting sucked into there im. also the pores on the foam filters are bigger and let more dirt/dust particals in.

put on filter, flush ur engine...put mobil 1 synthetic oil in (new oil filter)....and driving until 500miles oil change (still using the same oil filter)...at the next 1k mile or 1.5 change oil again and replace with performance KN or something....then you should be fine...
