P/S Pump noise and chirping sound when steering
Hi guys:
Recently i had my engine removed so that i could have the engine bay painted. We removed a bunch of items from the engine bay including the powersteering pump and reservoir tank. Once the engine was put back in (about 1 month later) we noticed a slight whining noise coming from the p/s pump. As the days passed, it got progressively worse until it is now unbearable. I installed 3 used p/s pumps from a local salvage yard and no luck. I installed a brand new genuine honda powersteering pump earlier this evening and it continues to drive me nuts!! We bled the p/s system per helms specs, played around with the belt adjustment and still the same crap I did notice that the high pressure hose (the one that bolts on top of the p/s) has a strong and noticeable vibration to it. You can feel that its vibrating greatly from inside. Is this normal? What can be causing this unbearable noise? The car steers normally, but its that really high-pitched whining noise that will not go away.
Here is an update. We replaced the high pressure line and used the new p/s pump and now have a chirping noise when moving the steering wheel. Sounds like a DJ scratching a record everytime the steering wheel is moved in any direction. Earlier today we replaced the rack and pinion and still the same thing.
Has anyone gone through this before? What else should i look for that might be causing this very annoying situation?

if you are getting a noise when you move your sterring wheel to the left or right it is normally your belt. try tightening your belt and see if that solves it.
Don,t know if its will help but had a simlar problem with a BMW we rebuilt there was a strange noise around the pump we changed it but it was still around the pump turned out to be a perforated hydraulic hose that was connected to the pump sacking in air when we turned the steering wheel,Hope this helps good luck.
