Default UH OH, Did a compression test today.....

Finally got around to doing a compression test on my 91 crx si with sohc zc engine. I went to auto zone and bought a timing light, stethescope, and compression tester. My problem was that the car was bogging pretty bad and smoking at times. Timing checked out ok as far as I could tell, and the injectors were ticking. Heres my compression #s.

CYL. 1 150
CYL. 2 145
CYL. 3 135
CYL. 4 175

I think what happened was when the guy who had the car before me bought the engine, he failed to drain the oil that came in the motor, and added 3 and a half quarts. When I bought the car, it had 7 quarts in it. Im guessing he blew the valve seals when he tried to drive it like that. So I guess what Im asking is, would this be a fix that I could do im my garage, or would I need to take it somewhere? What tools would I need? Im fairly mechanically inclined, Ive done swaps and the like, and I have lots of tools. Just curiouse if anyone has done this themselves? TIA

Yeah, but it probable didnt get driven like this one did with that much oil in it. Ever replaced valve seals in a motor yourself?

That loss of compression is bad. From those numbers, I would suggest what others have already said, "take it off, and examine it." My boy thinks you may have to re-build the head.

Well, i redid the test, and by putting oil in the cylinders, I was able to bring the #s up. This is starting to sound like bad rings to me. Im going to leave the engine in there so that I can move the car around while im waiting for another engine. Once i get another engine, I will pul this one and tear into it. Thanks for the replies guys.
