I have a crx and I do all the soloII and lapping sessions I can. I'd like to get a tire that I'll only use for racing on 14x6" rims that will last a long time. I was thinking of the Azenis but I've heard of people saying they over heat at soloII events.
What kind of effects does the overheating have on grip and wear?

Right now I've been using Dunlop sport A2 and I enjoy them but I'd like more stick.

Azenis are nice...

But I quite like my Victoracers and I've gotten a lot of use out of them.

I have seen these tires go through 8 hours of lapping + a half dozen autocrosses, and I have personally put them through 40 Autocrosses, which was close to 180 runs (a 24 hour autocross is included in that)

I don't really want to move to r compounds yet and it'd be cool to beat some people that use R compounds with street tires.

So no problems with the azenis and track days, sounds good.

 

I'll heartily second the motion on the Toyos. I started with full-tread RA1s and more than nine SCCA driver school and race hours later, they look like this...
