How do I program keyless entry remote on a 99 Civic EX?
How do I program keyless entry remotes on a 99 Civic EX?
The 96-98 shop manuals show how to program the keyless remotes using a button on the radio, but, they changed the radio in 99 and the button isnt there anymore.
I searched and found people saying to turn the key from off -> acc -> off -> acc like 5 times and the door locks should start 'clicking' and then press the remotes, but, that doesn't work either. I've also tried this while holding down a button on the remotes and it doesn't work either.
I dont have a working remote either. We recently purchased the car and it came with 1 remote that the dog had apparently used as a chew toy and it didn't work. I'm trying to program the remotes that came on my 96 civic ex as I have an aftermarket alarm and dont need them.
thanks guys,
-mike

If you're having problems programming your remote, you can enter you VIN number at http://www.keylessride.com and it will help you identify if a factory keyless entry system exists and what type of programming to use. You might also be using the wrong remote. Double check the part number you are using with the dealership parts dept.
I recently bought a 99 Civic Ex but it did not come with a keyless entry thing. I put the VIN number in on that website and it said that the 99s came with a keyless entry so does that mean i can just buy one from that site and program it and it will work?

Its an ex so im pretty sure that it came with keyless entry from the factory. Buy a new transmittor and try it out

I am trying to get my keyless entry to work too. I had an aftermarket alarm system taken out of my car that had keyless, so I lost the keyless entry. If I put in the OEM radio and buy a remote will it work again?
