Just like the title says. My valve cover is getting rather stained and washed out. Was just wondering if there's any way to make it dark black again.

Repaint it:
1. remove valve cover
2.remove old paint using aircraft paint remover.
3. Repaint with high temp engine paint. 500 degrees is fine
4. Replace valve cover gasket
5. put cover back on.

strip the paint with aircraft striper. clean really well with soapy water and then rinse really good. paint with black crinkly paint, can find at walmart and such in the spray paint section of the home decorating or in the automotive section.

I used some simple green, scrubbed and washed it off. It did a pretty good job, but not as good as really taking it apart and repainting it.

Clean engine bay with engine bright/simple green then when dry spray ENTIRE bay with mothers or whatever dash and plastic cleaner you like to use then shut the hood, turn car on and let "bake" and everything in your bay will look brand new including the valve cover.
