if it is a USDM r header -you'll have to cut you cat - cause the ITR header is longer than your stock header - if its a JDM ITR header you'll need a custom cat to bolt up to the 2.5" collector (USDM is 2.25") BTW if it is a USDM header you might wanna save your money

Make sure you have all the bolts and gaskets. After that you should be fine.

Enjoy!

See how much you can get the jdm header for without the carsound cat. There are 2 models if I'm correct, of the carsound cats(ones a little longer and wider than the other). The cat should be around $175-$200.

Gains- not 100% sure cause never had any experience with the jdm header. Ask some other H-T people.

You can bolt on the JDM ITR header and a 2-1/2" Carsound cat to your GSR B pipe but you'll need to use the poorer flowing 54006 (smaller body) versus the 94006 cat. But with either cat you'll be bolting a 2-1/2" ID cat to a 2" OD B pipe.....bottle neck. The best thing to do if you plan to keep that exhaust is to get the better cat (94006) and then a long tapered adapter that goes from 2-1/2" ID to 2" OD. Then you get a muffler shop to cut your B pipe, expand it, slip the adapter inside and weld it up.

Skafia, drop me an email, we still offer the package you mentioned...basically a bolt-on JDM 4-1 package.

Well for now I just want to use my stock GS-R exhaust. Which Carsound cat does the import-specialist kit come with?

I am going to purchase a USDM ITR exhaust system in the near future. So would it be possible to connect an ITR exhaust to any of the Carsound cats?

Yep, it sure is. We can just include a carsound with an inlet welded for the JDM header, and an outlet for your ITR exhaust.

Okay... this is what I'm going to purchase to make the system work, please correct me if I'm wrong.

JDM 4-1 Header
Carsound Cat (with welded inlet/outlets)
ITR B-Pipe
ITR Muffler

Am I missing anything else?

Just a few more questions before I am ready to purchase:

Is there any welding required to install the JDM 4-1 Header, Carsound Cat (with 2.5" in/out) ITR B-pipe, and muffler?

Or is it all just bolt on?

Would it be reasonable to just take all of the parts to a muffler shop and have them install it? There just aren't any *performance* muffler shops around here. Just hole in the way gangsta shops.

It's all bolt-on, no problem.

And you could take it to any Meineke or anything like that, sure, but I recommend you just do it yourself...just bolt-off, bolt-on.

When you bring it to a shop, you always run the risk of incompetence, IE, not plugging in 02 wires, forgetting the donut gasket...who knows. Just inspect the work carefully when theyre done!

Okay, I am confident about installing everything myself! I'm sure I'll bust a knuckle or two but it'll be well worth it.

I don't quite understand how the system bolts up.

The JDM 4-1 is 2.5", the Carsound I can get in/out @ 2.5", but what size is the stock ITR b-pipe?

If it's smaller than 2.5" (which it probably is) can I get the Carsound to go in 2.5" and out 2.x" ?

Where do the flanges come into place? Thanks a lot!

It is smaller than 2.5", and you can get the cat with a 2.5" inlet and an outlet that mates to the ITR header. Those are the flange sizes.

It bolts up like this:

JDM 4-1 (2.5in out)----->(2.5in)Carsound(2.25out)----->(2.25in)ITR Bpipe------>ITR Muffler

Skafia, I think you need to get it all at once though, the ITR b pipe is a bit longer than the 94 GS-R b pipe. So if you get it all mated to your stock exhaust, it will have to be modified again later on.

If I had to get the parts that you have mentioned, I would go in this order:
1. ITR B pipe & Carsound 94006.
2. JDM 4-1.
