the ctr cam is significantly cheaper than p&p...

around 200 + installation unless you can do it yourself, compared to at least 800 for P&P w/o the labor of having to put your head internals and head back on.

why is it between these two choices? and how in the world do you match port your head to your cams?

also, what's wrong with the ZEX kit? some interesting answers w/o much back up or proof or information sustaining your opinions.

i'd say go for the ctr cam, although u'd probalby want some cam gears+ecu to fully utilize it. if you want to p&p the head, might as well throw in new valvetrain and valves, cams, timing belt/waterpump/etc, while you're disassembled... you get the picture.

i did the ctr cam install first, then went with p&p and changed out everything. the hp increase on the dyno was amazing, but more so was the seat of the pants feel.

nothing is wrong with it. it is the easiest to hook up, but the "shots" are over rated. hence a 55 shot = 40 whp where most a 55 shot puts 55 to the wheels.

I think you should P&P first. Because if you have that done. Anytime later down the line you can easily take off your valve cover and change to a CTR cam. Its like a 30 minute job, Where as, P&p the whole head needs to be off.

Yeah he is right. I hooked up a NOS kit, and a ZEX kit. Both with a 50 shot, and the ZEX did not feel like a 50 shot. I hooked up the NOS in my car, and the ZEX in my cousin car, and he was very disappointed.

i wasn't planning on doing like a full port n polish job with a 3 angle valve job or something like that. i was just going to get a mild port n polish done.

i can take the head off myself and put it back on with no problems.

i don't see anything wrong with the zex. i don't use it, but when i did, the car pulled pretty hard with just a 60 shot.

i will more than likely get the CTR intake cam first. they are 240 from hmotorsonline.com.

anyone know where i can get one cheaper? i want a new one, don't really trust buying a used one.
