Fun mods for a d-series
Well you read the title i am looking for low dollar mods beside the usual intake header to mod my old d-series I was think mini me It is nothing i have read mcuh about is there alot of detail in doing this? I am used to b-series but i want to have some fun with a d for awhile
A mini-me would be a good idea. D series don't repond very well to bolt-ons. So intake, intake manifold, header, and any other mundane bolt ons will help but not by much. If you want to get decent power out of it without much trouble the easiest route would be forced induction.
if u look around u can usually find some goods deals on the usual bolt ons for the d motor. With ebay alone and a total of $650 i got i/h/e. Its not much but the car is noticably quicker than stock. I think the biggest difference i felt was from the 4-1 dc sports header though
well, i have a KKK03 turbo f/s for a d-series. would be fine. i run I/H/E and adjustable camgear. runs nice for me. its a fun lil car. i like d-series

some people might not agree, but a nice lightweight flywheel would be nice- makes the revs go much nicer. its fun to rev quicker. oh yea- turbo is fun too

I had a 5th gen si tranny and a y7/y8 mini me. Other mods included flywheel, clutch, hi flow cat, and custom exhaust. It was a pretty fun setup. I would have to say that the best bang for the buck was the tranny. That made a nice difference.

Not true, low budget speed is essentially what made modifying Honda's attractive. There are plenty of folks who have done alot with a little inginuity, junkyard scrounging, and hard work. These aren't Porsches we're talking about.

::raises hand in agreement::
I am living proof that you can put together a decent honda for cheap
I drive a Del Sol with a LS swap and a JDM GSR LSD tranny, some rare JDM wheels, Tunabe Super Racing Medallion exhaust, suspension and I can't forget to mention my COMPLETE (front and rear brakes and sway bars) GSR brake conversion including MC/BB and prop valve for 90 bux
My car cost me less than $3,000-3,500 in total
I am known by friends (in my dorm) as the local parts store and extreme deal finder
