Fiberglass bond to Carbon Fiber???
Hi guys - I was wondering if anyone knew how compatible fiberglass is with carbon fiber. For example, if I'd like to buy a carbon fiber hood with the stock look, then use a fiberglass repair kit to mold vents/scoops and whatnot, then cut out the holes on the carbon fiber hood, and attach the newly created fiberglass scoops/vents to the hood. Does fiberglass grab good to carbon fiber??? I'd just get a fiberglass hood, if I could find one that looked stock - but all I can find is carbon fiber. Thanks for any info guys!

why dont u just buy a cf hood with vents and scoops in it.. http://www.visracing.com
cause im not a body expert but, i think it would be pointless to try to mold fiberglass to cf.
just my .02$

umm wrong
carbon fibre = weave of carbon strands
fibreglass = weave of glass strands
It doesn't matter if the carbon and fibreglass are compatible. It's whether the resins being used are compatible. Look into it. If you use epoxy resins you will have to clear coat the parts for UV protection.

umm considering you didn't say any of that in your first post, no.
you said carbon is fibreglass, it's not.

ah, I'm going to create a specific hood. It's a hood that can only be found for a specific car, and even somewhat rare for the car. The estimated cost to have a fiberglass place fabricate it for my Prelude (I sent many companies pictures of the hood, and my stock hood) - is $10,000 to $15,000. Of course, every hood created after the initial would be far less to produce, since all of the designs and crap would be done. But, screw that, I'm too damn poor for that. So, I will improvise - I have all the time in the world to do it my way, and get it in shape. Thanks for the advice satan, I'll be sure and check with my buddy and see what he thinks. I'm hellbent on creating this hood. RX-7 Scoot Hood. You guys think when I do make it, I should leave the front intake hole as it is, or maybe make it a lil smaller? Here's a pic of one:

Any other advice of info on this is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Yeah, all of that is wide open actually. It's designed to help cool the engine bigtime, but I'm just shooting for looks. And I'm guessing trying to create and fit an underlying thing to catch water from rain will be a pain in the ***. If all goes well, I may leave it open for cooling purposes, assuming I do end up making something to filter out rain water. If not, it'll all be closed up, and made for looks, as most hoods are
