Default check this clutch problem out.

hear's the deally, i pulled the tranny off last night only to
notice that my pressure plate is all banged up. So I take a look
at the clutch housing and it has nicks on the inside of it
like the pressutre plate was rubbing against it. wtf

Anybody have an idea of what could have caused this.
I've been running this clutch for 50k+ miles and it has always
held up. hmmmmmmmmm. TIA

no, no pics yet, i guess the clutch housing rubbing against
the pp caused the damage. I'll try to get some pics tonight though.

TTIWWOP ! ! !

Were all of the PP bolts still intact? Sounds like maybe something got loose while it was spinning and bounced around a bit.

It's a centerforce dual friction clutch
Everything as far as pp bolts look intact and
i didn't find anything floating around in there as
far as bolts or anything. It's quite mind boggeling

How about the clutch disk? Is there ANYWHERE that something could have been shaken/sheared loose?

my rear main seal went bad and the rings were toast on my h23

so i'm swappimg motors.

I was gonna use the centerforce clutch on my new motor.

Not looking too good on that plan now though

I'd be willing to bet that one of the springs popped on the clutch disc and got knocked around.

Well i don't have the 12 point socket (or whatever is't called) to get the p-plate
off but i did take a good look at it and all the springs seemed to be intact.

Here are some pictures, shitty camera, but you can still tell what i'm taking about

here's a couple extra pics of where we do out dirty work

Basically, on the outer edges on the p-plate you can see where it had rubbed
against the clutch housing. The only thing i can conclude is that either the
throughout bearing failed or the p-plate is just too damn big

doesn't look too bad to me. You could still probably use it. It's just a lil banged up

damn, does the whole PP/flywheel assembly wobble when you spin it by hand?

eitehr the flywheel was retardedly loose or you had something flying around in there.

and i doubt a spring flew out and squeezed out through the 1mm gap between PP spring fingers,

You don't have a 10mm 12-point?

a regular 12 point 10mm will not work

i tried a 12 point 10,11,12 mm socket and none of them would fit on the bolt

there isn't any freeplay in the clutch or flywheel as far as it being wobbely.

There were no problems performance wise in it b4 i seperated the tranny.
