Bypass Valve?
I'm looking into buying my first mod! I have decided that I will give a CAI the pleasure of enhancing my R
. Looking around, and reading every post about this subject (WOW there are alot of them!), I would like to buy an Injen because:
a) It's powerband is more appealing to me
b) It is polished which looks cooler!
c) it's cheaper
OK so now my questions:
1- Can you make an AEM bypass valve fit on an injen?
2- Is there any cutting involved (For either the AEM or Injen)?
3- How much power/noise loss will I experience?
4- Living in Oregon (real rainy) is it all that necessary?
YES I HAVE done a search, however, I have read too many conflicting stories to get a definite answer!
Alex - who really wants the BWAAAAAAAH!

Can't answer all of them but 1. If the diameter of both intakes are the same, I don't see why not. 2. My AEM CAI is one piece so looking at the pictures for AEM CAI, yes you would need to cut it. 4. if the streets in your area flood often, then I would. Even many streets in the SF bay area were flooded this weekend. Hope this helps.
Since you have to cut the intake to use the bypass valve, why not just make the cut and keep it clamped as one piece. During the rainy season you can remove the bottom portion and put the filter up in the engine bay short ram-style.
Thats exactly what I am going to do. Except i will just pop in the bypass valve whenever it is raining. Too much drama to remove the bottom half and then reinstall. heard this works great..... h2o for me not for the engine!

I don't think I'm understanding this correctly, what portions would I nedd to cut?
Does anyone else know the answers to my other questions? Sound/performance difference?
Thanks
