Rattling at 3K
Whenever I take the needle to 3K or further theres this annoying rattling coming from my engine bay... it almost sounds like a fart can muffler. Im almost positive its the inner heat sheild (between the headers and the block) on my headers (stock). But I fear the only way to remove it its to take my headers off! Is there any way I can avoid taking off the headers, I cant stand getting those "what the f$#@ is wrong with ur car" looks! Help!?
You should be able to remove any sheild around the header without having to remove the header itself. Take a good look.
And BTW, I used to have a noise @ 3k and it was a heat sheild on the B pipe. It was tricky to locate and had me stumped for a while because it sounded like it was coming from the engine bay, and would only happen while under load.
Good Luck.

Damn it! I was gonna say that. The bracket holding the part with the flex pipe of the header to the engine block. Usually, because the header moves back and forth and the thin bracket just snaps, it rattles like crazy at certain rpms.

What year Prelude?
If it's a 3rd gen, it's the infamous 3k rpm rattle.
The header in 3rd gens has a tube inside a tube, at 3k rpm the inner tube rattles against the outer tube.
You can fix this by cutting open the outer tube (but not through the inner) and weld the inner to the outer.
