why does that matter?? its all same pipe just AEM sticker on it.. its all about filter not what pipe brand is.. (it can be AEM .or not.. most of AEM sticker is on top of pipe so people can see it. )
goddam dude, its a ****** intake your not gonna get any more power outta that "whell maby like 2hp or something, not like if u get a ****** turbo or cam shafts then u might be askin how much power is being added becides its is more of a proformance part stop eating rice hahaahh

i don't know what that is... but has anyone had a bad experience with bomz products? i have a 97 gsr and i want intake. i can't swing the v2 right now but my car is stock and it's driving me crazy!! so i was just wondering if you guys think it would be a bad idea to use that for now??

Everyone has to start somewhere. I cant see a pic but if it is a cold air not a short one, then it should add around 5-15 depending on the filter element (foam
or paper
)the short one's -1 to 5 hp depending on the filter element.
Unless you got a lot of money to build up a badass auto i would suggest getting a b16 5speed tranny for 5 hundo, then you would have a decent ride.
And also the piping brand does matter, by the way they do there bends some have bigger bends then others. k&n pipe is actually one of the worst flowing pipes and aem close to the best (according to sportcompactmagazine). But i think personally you cant beat a k&n filter!

It has the aem bypass valve and so long as its got a decent quality filter on the end of it, it wont make any difference what brand it is. It looks like its anodised blue so it may be a cosmo CAI (ebay) and pretty good quality intakes IMO, i have bought 3 of them for various cars, but ditch the filters for K&Ns or some other quality filter.

I have a bomz exhaust that I got off of syduck...its ok nothing special. I picked it up cause I didnt want to spend 600+ on a catback. Plus I was scraping the stock exhaust so I figured 33 bucks, and 20 to put it on and check and see how beat up it gets. funny thing is that it doesnt scrape at all...like what aziz93 said you gotta start some where...

I bought a BOMZ CAI off of eBay for some $40. I went to put it in but then I realized I had to rip out all the tubing for the stock intake to get it down into the bumper so I said "WTF." and I hacked it to hell. I just used the filter with a short piece of the pipe at the elbow and clamped it into my stock air pipe. It is just lying in my garage now.
Brand probably won't matter unless one makes smoother pipes than the other.

Geez, Honda-Tech is going to ****, theres a few intelligent posts here, the rest, might as well have just saved the time instead of posting up useless reponses..
Anyways man, to answer your question, it doesn't look like an AEM, but it does have the Bypass filter which is supposed to help with Hydrolocking, but, pretty much nullifies the cold air intake and makes it perform on par with a short ram.
The actual power increase will vary, but I wouldn't expect more than a couple hp increase if you actually dyno the car. My suggestion would be to, keep that intake, remove the bypass filter, and put a nice filter on the end of it. Welcome to H-T.

could be anything but like other's said it wont make that much of a difference what brand it is.... its just piping, the acual cone might make a difference
i like how everyone says that the brand doesn't make a difference, but then some intakes make more power than others.
AEM and a few other companies research the design and bends of their intakes. they make a bend, install and dyno it, then look for room for improvement. they aren't satisfied until they can't get any more power out of it. ebay intakes are usually just thrown together and sold without research and development. thats why AEM intakes make the most power on the market and why they sell so much.
(i know, someone will come on here saying the comptech icebox or a J's racing intake made more power than the AEM. not all motors respond the same to mods. but AEM consistantly outflows most other intakes.)

eh, that can be argued. Comptech iceboxes have been proven to give better hp gains then other companys for example. but yore right in a sense, a CAI is a CAI in my opinion, as are short ram intakes; theyre all the same.

This I agree with and I completely understand your point. I shouldn't have made such a bland statement. Design is obviously very important in anything, but I belive as far as intakes go, you will find that many companies build the same product. I think the best bet would be to research how air best travels through an intake so you can understand what type of surface and bends you want in an intake. Hell I would even like to know that.
As far as the one on your car I couldn't see the picture so I can't contribute but I bet someone along the line got it right. In any case I think the intake is only most critical with a built/modified car where you need cooler, better air flow that what a stock intake can give you. Slapping one onto a civic you just drove off of a Honda lot won't make it feel any faster. But at least the CAI and SRI make that cool sucking sound hehe.

i agree that most of the performance gains have to do with the filter itself....but it is important to have a good quality intake pipe too....i bought a cheap short ram back in the day off of ebay for like $35.00 thinking it looked like the rest of them and would be fine, so why not? i go and put it on, it fits like total crap, not only did the intake stick out too far but the bend by the tb was so crappy it would pop out of the sock when driving down the road. the filter itself wasnt that great either....things like intakes and filters.... you get what you pay for....even the Tenzo R short rams back in the day fit great and had a nice quality filter on them but my favorite short ram was my black iceman....it looked somewhat stock and held up really well
