Opinions needed, H22A New Autotensioner vs. used Manual with 125k Miles.
Hey,
Just wondering what the opinions are out here.
I'm swapping out my H23 DOHC Non Vtec and putting in a used JDM H22A.
I'm wondering if I should install the new AutoTensioner that comes with my timing belt kit (belt, balance belt, auto tensioner, water pump) or if I should recycle the Manual Tensioner off of my H23 engine that has 125,000 miles (216,000 km)
Opinions ?
Thanks!
(All other advice that I should do wtih my H22a is appreciated. I'll be doing most of the work tomorrow for the swap. So far I've also got new oil pan gasket, cam seal and raceing clutch / new flwheel ... )

Should I take TimeRacer's suggestion and replce the springs? (will these fit from the auto tensioner ?)
or should it be fine? I've heard of a person using his manual tensioner now for 215k miles..

No, the auto-tensioner doesn't use any springs at all. So just get a new one from the dealer - or from like hondaautomotiveparts.com. Should only be a few bucks.
Even without new springs, I'd still go with the manual tensioner.

If the bearings on the Manual are in good condition then reuse it. If it rolls smooth but is dry regrease it with good grease and a syringe.
But go with the manual. less complicated and less prone to failing.
