K&N filter for AEM CAI
well after prepping for the state REF yesterday... i unbolt my AEM CAI from its mounting position and forgot to tighten it... well after driving it, my CAI dropped and my filter chewed the pavement.... now its whooped...
my question is, where do i get a replacement filter? i want K&N but on AEM's website they now produce their own?
and i've done a search...

either measure the id on the old filter and match it to a k&n or buy the aem (its still a k&n filter just w/ an aem logo on it but its like 90 bucks from them. Next oil change im gonna replace mine w/ a k&n from the local auto parts store its like 40 w/ my stepdads discount
i went to order some of those k&n ones the size of the aem ones for my store cuz people kept bugging me about them....but when i called k&n, they had no idea what i was talking about and said id hafta measure mine (this was like 2yrs ago though).....then i kinda forgot to measure mine!....let us know what the measurements are and/or the part# for k&n, that would be really helpful for us all!
get the k and n known as the "xtreme inverted filter ram style". its a 3" filter, the AEM pipe should be 3".
i dont know if this is the p/n from nopi or k&n or what (i'm holding the box right now) 553+4751

Hey ive got a quick question
my friend has a used K&N filter that has an internal diameter of 3 inches and i was wondering if i could use it on my b18b motor that has an aem SRI with an internal diameter of 2.75 inches...would i be able to bolt the filter on even though it might be 1/4 inches off?? could i just clamp it on tighter? will it work still
thanks

do the Refs care about modified intakes as long as theyre CARB legal? im not familiar with those inspection laws since we don't have emissions here in va, but i would think that since the aem cai is CARB legal they wouldnt be concerned about it...
The only thing I know about the subject is that the carb exempt # is not valid with any other filter other than the one from AEM. ONe of my buddies used to work for them. I would get a apexi filter if I was you. There was a test done between several differnt filters even k&n and the apexi was the one on top.
