Default B series trivia: difference between motor years?

Ok, I'm about to move from a mini-me up to a B series and I have
a few options.
A friend has a 1990 JDM B16A from an SiR for sale.
Recently a neighbor had his 2000 Civic Si totaled by an Oak Tree!

So, my question is what is the main difference between the
two motors and is one better than the other???
Just so you know I plan on doing a complete tear down on which
ever motor I go with.

Obviously the 1990 was pre-OBD2, while the 2000 is post OBD2.
Any other quirks I should know that might affect my swap and cost.

Thanks!!!

if they are similar in cost i'd get the 00 b16a2. mainly cuz the 90 tranny is getting old and they tend to be hit and miss in quality.

the 00 b16 is going to take a little more work to get right though.. like you'll need a hasport cable-hydro kit and a obd-0 dizzy. some intake manifold sensor might have to be changed as well.

but more likely it's got less milage and a better tranny.

Cam profiles are slighlty different. Pistons are different 00SiR has 10.4 cr oppposed to 10.2 (I think). Valve cover lettering may be different. Electronics is different. OBD0 vs OBD2. IM is different but usable. Tranni is waaay different.

Thanks for the feed back.
Yeah, that was my main concern was the hydro tran and the cost of
a converter.
From what I've found, Hasport is the only one who makes one!
The price for both are going to be almost the same with the 00
just $100 more than the 90. Without a doubt if I get the 90
I'd go through the tranny and add a LSD.

Cost is always an issue with me (I don't have the Bank of Mommy and Daddy
to pay for everything ) so if I have to get a converter that might
be the deal breaker.
