I have a 96 GSR tranny mated with a built b16. Well, it grinds shifting onto 3rd gear everytimes, 2nd gear at high rpms, and everyonce in a while 5th gear too. They all seem to go into gear and drives fine after the grind, especially on 3rd.

Do you guys think it's the synchro problem ? Would GM MF synchromesh fix this problem or perhaps new synchro would solve the problem...

gm syncromesh will supress the problems. might want to look at shift linkage to make sure its not bent at all. putting new blocking rings (syncro rings) into a tranny is going to cost an arm and a leg. you could buy a used junkyard tranny (low mileage) from one of the ht sponser importer/junkyards for cheaper.

 

I would try that or redline trans oil. Sounds like your synchros are bad to me.

 

if you swap out the synchros, might as well rebuild it....gets pricey.

synchromesh might help the problem, but use the friction modified stuff if you can. What RPM's are you shifting at when you hear these grinds?

 

i second the red line i used it before and it stoped my trannie from grinding in 2nd
