88 to 91 cluster conversion
ive searched through seven pages of archives and have found a link to a how to on http://www.4thgenerationcivic.com/ but it doesnt seem to show up. does anybody have the instructions or write up on how to do this conversion. i have a complete 91 dash that i am swapping in and have the plugs from the 91 so i have all the parts needed i just need some time of wiring diagram. thanks for all the help.
well u say u have the dash right??
so the wiring harness on there or not???
weird cuz I swapped mine right over
and then hacked it to fit the Si-R cluster
now that is a hour and half's work but worth it

I am currently doing this conversion and its definately not plug and play. The easiest way to do it is to just swap the harness from the 88-89 to the 90-91. You can re-pin the older harnesses to work but its pretty involved. You will also run into problems where the Hazard switch is located (88-89 hazards are mounted on the steering column, 90-91 are on the cluster cover). The dashboards are the same except the mounting brackets for the cluster have to be changed over. Since you said you have to whole dash than some or most of the parts needed for the swap are on the dash. If the harness isnt on the new dash than I would suggest finding a harness. It makes things alot easier. Hope this helps!

This is a write-up for a 99-00 Si cluster swap into an EF/ED. About 1/2 way down the article. The wiring colors and pin outs are there for all the cars you need.
**Make a note that the 88-89 CRX wiring is different that the 88-89 Civic/Hatch wiring. 90-91 Civic/Hatch/CRX wiring is identical.**
Enjoy
