Default Just installed led's for gauges

Ok so I bought 3 amber led's from http://superbrightleds.com I just got them in today so I put them in and here's the result of my $9.77 investment. I'm pretty disappointed with how they turned out but I still like it better then just plain old white. Notice how its brighter in some spots then others so I'm thinking of just getting amber bulbs instead because I was hoping that this would turn out bright but instead it turned out Gay...

Should of just gotten oem Amber 194 replacements. Mines let up bright and orange (amber yO) now. But anything is better than stock. I don't think the LEDs are that great because their beam in concentrated instead of spread out like regular bulbs. Since the main parts of the cluster shares 3 bulbs, LEDs could be inefficient.

get sand paper and scuff up the LED all around, this should help spread the light instead of it concentrating straight ahead, if this doesn't help anymore, you can try sanding the tip of the LED flat instead of domed how it is.

I bought the 194 led's is like 4 led's in one instead of just one bulb. I'll try that sanding thing out but I'm gonna take the 194 turn signal amber bulbs I got and put them in to see if I want to just go with amber's or not. here's the link to the specs on the bulbs http://superbrightleds.com/specs/bulb_specs.htm

bulbs are better here because you're looking for light diffusion, which is not what LEDs are made for.

I bought two red bulb replacements and painted the 3rd (cause they only had 2 of the red left)....I love it, it is much easier to see at night....not as glaring.

Man I was just going to buy the 6 led ones. I guess not, looks like I'm gonna go get some new 194 amber bulbs since mine are getting dull.

so your saying to get "actual cotten *****" and spread them out in the cluster? I'm guessing your saying this so that the light will catch the cotten and thus give the illumination a more spread out look.

haha.... dude, I know how you feel. I am a victim too.....

But you know what, I didn't buy them cheap 9.00 LEDs.

I bought two sets of JDM PIAA 4LED bulbs to put in my Gauges thinking they would be damn brighter.... like 40bucks for two pairs.

I got the same shitty results as you, LEDS don't shine all around in the Cluster housing and got some bright and dim areas like yours.

I'll Give you a tip.... I just ended up switching to Raybrig Super White Halogens, Much better, and super bright!

Has anyone tried this yet? Does it really spread the light out good?
